Assistant Principal

Mrs. Lakessiah Franklin, Assistant Principal

My name is Lakessiah Franklin, and I am proud to serve as the Assistant Principal at Tuscaloosa Career & Technology Academy. I was born and raised in West Point, Mississippi, and I am the daughter of Ziffie Mosley and the late Thomas Mosley. I’ve been happily married to my husband, Rodney Franklin, for 14 years. We have two wonderful children—Peyton, who is 13, and Robbie, who is 3.

I earned my bachelor's degree in history with a minor in Language Arts from Stillman College. I also hold two master’s degrees: one in History Education from the University of West Alabama and another in Instructional Leadership from Jacksonville State University. Additionally, I earned an Educational Specialist degree in Higher Education Leadership from Capella University.

My journey in education began at Greensboro High School in Hale County, where I taught Social Studies and English Language Arts for 13 years. In 2017, I joined Tuscaloosa City Schools as a literacy specialist at Success Prep Academy, Westlawn Middle School, and Tuscaloosa Career & Technology Academy. I later served as Assistant Principal at Northridge Middle School before transitioning to my current role here at TCTA in 2023.

I am passionate about student success, career readiness, and building strong partnerships between schools and the community. I believe in creating meaningful opportunities that prepare students not only for graduation, but for life beyond the classroom.
