Cosmetology and Barbering

Welcome to the Cosmetology & Barbering Academy!
This academy is designed to provide students with a comprehensive introduction to the principles and practices of the cosmetology industry. Students will explore the history and development of cosmetology while building foundational knowledge in infection control, safety procedures, and the identification of diseases and disorders related to hair, skin, and nails.
Hands-on instruction in a controlled lab environment reinforces essential skills in hair care, hair design, and haircutting fundamentals, along with the theory and practice of chemical services such as chemical texturing, hair coloring, and lightening techniques. Students also gain an understanding of the scientific concepts behind cosmetology, including basic chemistry, anatomy, and physiology.
In addition to technical instruction, students develop problem-solving and critical thinking skills essential to professional success. The courses prepare students with job-seeking strategies, salon management principles, and familiarity with current technologies used in modern salon environments.
The final course in this academy prepares students for state board licensure, incorporating both theoretical knowledge and practical skills required for certification.
